22/45 MK III mag question

Post by hotroderx » Mon Mar 28, 2011 7:30 pm

Was looking at ordering some mags from Midwayusa tommrow for my 22/45 MK III but all they have in stock is the 22/45 MK II mags. So my question is since I am running a 22/45 MK II hammer bushing can't I use the 22/45 MK II mags in my gun? I have googled it and go some pretty mixed answers seems to be a toss up with some yes some no.

If you have a MK-III you can not use any 22/45 mags no matter what model they were made for. :)

Yes the 22/45 Mark II magazine will work just fine. Do you have a VQ Target trigger installed?

The difference is the tab on the back of the factory trigger. That little tang hooks underneath the upper bump and interacts with the trigger if a mag is partially installed. The tab is scalloped and doesn't actually enter into the mag body but it may rub on some Mark III triggers. You can file it off if it rubs on your 22/45 Mark II magazines and interferes with the trigger pull. It doesn't really serve a functional purpose anyway. The VQ Mark III target trigger already comes with the tab shaved off. They were having problems with their triggers rubbing on the mags and decided to just do away with that feature. I use Mark II and Mark III 22/45 magazines interchangeably in between my personal 22/45's.
