Leaving the LCI slot open does not negatively impact the performance of a Mark III pistol. It just leaves an open, some say ugly, slot in the side of the receiver tube.

I was wondering if someone was going to ask me that question. You have to remove the trigger and the trigger pivot pin. The same piano spring that prevents the trigger pivot pin from backing out doubles as the latch for the 22/45's magazine catch. You swing the spring up in the frame and it releases the mag button. Then you push the mag release button out of the frame from right to left. If you look at the right side of the frame you can see the bottom end of the piano spring mounted in the frame, just below the mag button's semi-circle.

I did some mods for my 22/45:
1. VQ SS trigger
2. VQ sear
3. Clark bushing and oversized sear pin.
4. LCI removing (no filler)
Thanks to Bullseye's 22/45 detailed stripping/reassembly procedures, which are very helpful that I installed those parts with confidence. Clark bushing is a little bit hard to press fit onto hammer, but I used 1/4 inch socket wrench with rubber mallet to tap it in, but just half way in. Then, I used arbor press to press it all the way down. I don't want to sand it down to make it fit like some guys did. That, I think, defeats the whole purpose of tight fit Clark bushing. I also did some pre-travel and over-travel adjustments. The trigger is now light, crisp and just sweet. Magazines now fly out of the grips. With LCI removing, less gun powder residues or gunk build up inside. It looks cleaner, takes less cleaning time and is easier to clean around the breech face. I am thinking about Volquartsen Titanium Disconnector replacement. Does it improve the trigger a little more? Or is it a waste of money? Thanks...
