Clean a 22/45 how often?

This is probably been talked over a billion times already, but, how often do you strip and clean a 22/45 MKIII.........?

I'm loving my little R-gun; with a target bull barrel, Volquartzen kit, screw-on aftermarket grips, used Millet Red-dot..... $245 plus $85 or so for the Volq stuff, $30 for the red dot, and it's shooting Federal Value Pack without a misfire or glitch.....shooting as well as some of the Hi-Standards and Model 41s on the line. If mine isn't the cheapest gun up there, it's close....what a bargain!

It's kind of in my head that it's probably not too good to separate the barrel and receiver for cleaning too often. Lately, I've been running a pull-through with synthetic-safe solvent and a couple of patches through the barrel after the range, and q-tipping the gunge around the bolt head and chamber mouth..... Good enough? How often do you break yours down?

I clean the bolt, and receiver after every trip (w/ Q-tip and solvent), but not the barrel. I seldom clean the barrel if I do it's with a jag and/or nylon brush. If you clean the barrel you need to put some rounds through it before you shoot a match. I still have the LCI in my gun, I use it as a detail clean alert. When it no longer springs back freely it's time to detail clean. Normally this is around 2000-2500 rounds. Is it required with out the LCI probably not. My neighbor has a MKII that he bought new in 81 and he never detail clean it. Till he shot mine and found out how good my trigger was compaired to his. So I showed him how to do it and that was in 2009, so he went 27 yrs and no telling how many rounds through it. All I know was his trigger was so hard to pull, I estimated it around 10# it was gummed up so bad.

I run a Bore Snake through mine after every shooting day. I clean the bolt and chamber. Now when I get to about 2,500rds I will kerosene it out good and use some compressed air to blow it out. Light oil all the pins and bolt and we will be good to go. Works for me.

I have the regular stainless frame Mark III, and field strip it after every session. I clean the bore, and everything I can get at with a cotton swab or nylon brush. I "flood" some tight areas with solvent. When re-lubing it, I put a bit of white grease (any kind of grease would serve) on the barrel lug and frame socket.

At around 3k rounds, I haven't felt a need to detail strip yet, and the barrel / frame fit is still tight after a couple of dozen teardowns.
