Ruger Mark l and ll Barrels

Post by Dusky » Fri Dec 10, 2010 3:50 pm

Just wondering about the build of Mark I and II pistol barrel lengths. Is the 4 3/4" barrel more common than the 6" version? Does anyone know on the Mark I and Mark II how many 4 3/4" and 6" where made? It has been my experience that 6" barrel guns are less common. I am just wondering if that is true or this is just my experience in trying to find guns to purchase.

Are we talking about Mark I and II's with adjustable target sights? Or are we talking about Standard pistols with fixed rear sights? The barrel lengths you've mentioned are for fixed sight models.

Yes I am talking about the standard models with fixed sights. It would also be interesting to know how many adjustable sight guns where made with the 5 1/2 and the 6 7/8 barrels. But my original question concerns the standard models.

That info would be best asked of a Ruger collector instead of someone like me who repairs them. The Red Eagle News Exchange founder/author Chad Hiddleston tracks manufacturing numbers and could provide the knowledge you seek in greater detail. His email address is- [email protected]
