My M-41 has developed a quirky trigger. Every once in a while the pull will go to something like twenty pounds. It often happens on the first round of a magazine but can happen at any time. The gun is clean. Any ideas?

This kind of sounds like the thumb safety is slightly engaging the sear face. You may need to take the left grip off and bend down the little spring clip on the safety lever a little more to make a more positive lock on the lever.

Thank you, Bullseye but that didn't cure it. I think you are on the right track though. Everything was fine until I used the safety and then the problem returned.

On some of these pistols the safety lever doesn't appear to have moved at all but it is just enough to interfere with the sear. Also check your springs on the trigger bar and ensure they aren't weak or broken.
