HiViz front sight question

Post by ss4goku » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:21 pm

Ive looked around the forum for an answer but couldnt find one so. I recently installed a HiViz front sight on my 22/45 mk 3 and i noticed that it seems to lean just a small amount to the right off center, and in order to get my gun sighted in properly, ive had to adj the windage screw so much that the rear blade is now very far over to the right now. I did this at 5 yards bench sighted, so now it seems to be sighted in but i thought this very strange to have to do.

May check to see if something is under the base making it lean. It should be correct if the base is setting down flush.

If you have to you can move the rear sight base over to compensate. That way your rear sight adjustments can be centered.

I found them to be worse than steel sights. I tried them and they were larger than my target. I put it on backwards and it was a big improvement but still too large, I finally went back to the standard front sight and shoot better with it.

More stuff sitting in the bottom of my shooting bag keeping the red dot company.

HiViz front sight question

Post by ss4goku » Sun Apr 18, 2010 8:08 pm

I appreciate the welcome, im gonna keep an eye on it "no pun intended" shoot it a couple times and see how it does, if it keeps bothering me i might bump the rear sight base over, i was noticing on some reviews people gave it on different places to buy it, a few actually did mention something about the front sight having a slight lean to it, one guy said it was like 3 degrees. I checked mine to make sure its mounted flush and it is flush on the barrel so it might be a manufactering defect who knows, but thanks again for the advice, really love this site alot.

took the pistol out to shoot today, it shot perfectly dead on, and i had no problems adjusting to the rear sight being over to the right so i figure if it aint broke dont fix it, i do appreciate the info and hope to shoot again soon, thanks.

I put one on my Single Six, and never looked back! Great improvement, IMHO. The accuracy and fun are back! :D

We put a set on my one daughters range pistol and the front site frame broke. A very good gunsmith done the work. Finally she said she hated them so we put the old sights back on. :( Shot a $100.00.
