My purchased new Model 41 is just back from its 2nd warranty trip to S&W.
The first trip was to correct excessive lead spitting. The fix was 95% effective.
The second trip was for stovepiping and inaccuracy. I also asked that the trigger be smoothed. Long story short, the pistol came back with two new barrels (7" & 5.5"). The accuracy is improved, and the trigger is smoother. One magazine functions perfectly, the other has 20% stovepipes.
I called S&W Customer Service about the magazine. I was advised to send it back and it would be replaced. With a eye towards tinkering with it, I asked about disassembly instructions and was told it was not designed to be disassembled (I had already kinda figured that out). I was also told S&W buys their magazines. That was a surprise.
Anyway, I'm going to follow their advice and return the magazine.
Any comments or suggestions on what I might have done better or different?

As for the mags, compare the lips. You may find one is wider. I would also check for burrs. Stamped parts seam to leave sharp edges that are not cleaned up.

Changed my mind on sending in the mag. With a tip I received on RFC, I figured out how to disassemble the magazine. I have filed and buffed it, and we will find out Monday if it works better.
Since I drilled a hole in the floorplate to expedite future disassemblies, I guess I have forfeited the option to send it in for replacement.
