Another M 41/UltraDot Mount Question

Post by Jayhawker » Tue Dec 29, 2009 2:17 pm

In the process of deciding which barrel to have drilled and tapped for an UltraDot, I've noticed that there are two different sizes to consider. The field barrel and the 7 3/8" barrel are thinner (looking at the top) than the "heavy" 5.5" barrel. I can't see where there would be a "one size fits all" as far as the mounts are concerned. Does this mean that there are two different sized mounts or that you are restricted to using the 5.5" barrel for the UltraDot?

Thanks for any information on this.

The width of the barrels is not a concern, the Weaver #62 rail is the correct one for the all Model 41 barrels. The field barrel and the 7" barrel do have slightly narrower profile than the 5.5" bull barrel but all the barrels have the same curvature on the top strap. http://www.weaveroptics.com/mountcharts/default.aspx
