UltraDot For A Model 41

Post by Jayhawker » Sat Dec 26, 2009 7:46 pm

I want to have a barrel drilled and tapped to mount an UltraDot. Of the three barrels available to me including a field barrel, 7 3/8" comped barrel and a standard 5.5" "heavy barrel, is there one that is favored for drilling and tapping over the others?

Thank you for any help on this.

My 7" barrel came drilled and tapped from the factory. If you have 3 barrels and none of them are drilled and tapped then you might try this. Double sticky tape a weaver base on to the barrel with the UltraDot attached. Then hold it up and sight on something on the wall to get an idea of what the balance feels like (do this over a bed or something soft to catch the UltraDot should it fall off. Do it with all 3 barrels and then drill and tap the one that feels best to you.

Which flavor of UltraDot? Personally I much prefer the UltraDot MatchDot on my Model 41.

Excellent idea. I have both a 1" and a 30 mm removed from revolvers I've sold in the past. I'd love to have the Matchdot but can't justify the expense when I have two of the older style available.

The MatchDot can be had for under $200 delivered (Larry's Guns). Selling one of the older UltraDot's could go a long ways towards buying a MatchDot.

They all pretty much mount the same with a Weaver #62 scope base. I'd tap the one that you shoot most for bullseye or accurate shooting.
