Standard (A100) Magazine
The magazine on my Standard has the "lips" pinched so far in it is a pain to load. If I open them so I can load the mag, the rounds are pushed too high to go into the chamber. I was looking around for a replacement, but they seem rather scarce. MKI mags are available, but I believe the follower button is on the wrong side. I've read that some MKI mags are slotted and threaded so that you can put the button on the other side. Are the MKI mags all this way? Are there any other mag fixes I can look at?
Very helpful link, indeed. Looked at RFC this morning, but obviously didn't use the correct search terms. Thanks for pointing it out.
Bullseye answered the question and said that a MKII mag would work. As usual, Bullseye is right.
Tip in putting in links:
The reply form has several buttons across the top. One says "URL" it puts in the starter code. Hit the button, paste the link and hit the button again.

That was easy. Thanks for the tip.

I was going to suggest using a M-10 magazine in your A-100 but I see you found one of my earlier posts on the subject. Those early Ruger mags had a weakness with the multiple fingers on the feed lips- they tend to bend out of place and are hard to get tweaked back into good working order. The newer style mag feeding lips are a great improvement and have a stronger tolerance to resist deforming.

I'd noticed that the mag looked very similar to the M10 mag except for the base, but I was not smart enough to try one. Had one of those "duh" followed by the palm to the forehead moments when I read your post. The fingers on the A100 mag had to be so tight that you had to force the bullet between them to get it loaded and then most bullets sticking between those fingers. If you loosened them enough to get the bullet in, the follower pushed the bullet about 1/4" too high.
Two pieces of barley pop can and a now having to spring for a $20 magazine. Pretty high maintenance costs for a pistol that will only shoot for another 30 years or so.

Was out and about and stopped by Green Top. They had MKII mags for $20, which seemed like a pretty good deal since the usual supply houses had them for $20-$24 plus shipping. Rimfire Sports was sold out.
The new MKII mags look just like my MKIII mags, red logo and the follower button is identical. They don't have the slot and pimple for the mag release. A very tight fit in the Standard. They work in my MKII, so I now have 4 mags to swap between the two pistols. Just for the heck of it, I put a MKIII mag into the standard. It fed and ejected three rounds handcycling the bolt. Looks like I'll be taking a handfull of mags to the range next time just to see what works.
