note that the HKS '22-B' (linked above) is for the "22/45" mag-angle
the HKS '22-R' is for the standard Ruger grip-angle

.22 ammo: WoW I'd not expect it to be that scarce...
( ask 'OM' if he has any to spare...

)
I was recently in a local HDW store... and they'd just received a
shipment of "ammo"... the 20+ cases were in the isle waiting to
be inventoried on a busy day... an acquaintance came up and
asked to get some ".22 ammo" and mentioned his preference.
When asked how many boxes... he replied Two-Cases...
which was all that had just arrived... The dept-mgr just looked
at us and smiled as he sold the two cases... and made a note on
the Order-List...

So I drove home from Detroit last night. stopped in at Cabella's (Kind of on the way) they did not have what i was lookign for. I was about to make the final turn into our development when i realized i was right buy a Gander Mountain. So I stopped in. They had both of the guns i am looking for side by side. Through the research on the interent i pretty much had my self talked into the MKiii678GC. I am glad i got to hold it. It is heavier that i thought it would be and i am not a huge fan of the grips. Besides that the prices where more than what i thought i woudl have to spend so i bought nothing. But the night is not over yet. I went out for dinner and drinks with a couple friends. Durring the course of the night i find out that a mutual friend of ours has an FFL and it turns out he can get me the gun. So I have decided on the Mark III 678 Hunter. cannot wait to get it.

Harper... welcome to the forum.
congrats on having an FFL "friend"...
good luck with the Hunter...
after you hold it at arms length to fire a few bricks,
the strength will build in your arm and it won't be so "heavy".
take care -- toy

A few months ago I saw a few Mark III on Bud's Gun Shop website now nothing. I was very fortunate in getting hooked up with some .22lr ammo from a buddy of mine that is out of the hobby and another buddy that works at a sporting goods store a few months ago. With supply dwindling, I feel it's best to get what you can and hold on tight especially since it is difficult for me to get any ammo locally nowadays. I'm glad I was able to get what I have now in regards to the dedicated .22lr pistols I have (Ruger Mark III Hunter and S&W Model 41) and the Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock 19.
BTW, the ULC is awesome but too bad it doesn't work with the Model 41 magazines. I have about 10 magazines for my Ruger and another 10 brand new magazines I'm keeping as spares. So having the ULC is very convenient.

I just bought my 12th handgun. All are different stainless models and all except one bought within the past year (5 revolvers and 7 SA pistols). I also have 3 rifles and 3 shotguns, up from one of each this time last year. I have about 5,000 rounds of .22LR stored and about 1,000 rounds each of 9mm, .357, .38 Special and .45 ACP. In my case, it's not hoarding, it's a hobby I picked up after we became empty nesters last year. I am glad most of it was bought early last fall before the Obanma crunch. My wife wanted me to have a hobby to ovecome my workaholic nature, so it was coincidence. My wife gave me a green light to collect and shoot as long as I stay away from the office.

Yes, I have some disposable income now that the kids are grown and gone, my wife is working after 25+ years as a stay at home mom, and the mortage is paid off.

Went to a gun show in Akron on Saturday. Wow it has been a long time since i have been to one. It takes all types. I finally bought my Mark iii GC. Shot it saturday as well. I love it. Not very accurate yet (i know that is all on me). i am away from home again this weekend in Indiana and can't wait to get back home this weekend to go to the range.
