Some of the rimfire auto pistols don't like to feed the 22 hollow points very well. Ruger's don't always like them. The rounded nose or the power points do seem to feed well in all the models.
My 10/22 ruger rifle doesn't feed them very well either, but I think it was more attributed to the magazine I was using.

You can lame it on the sun, the wind , the rain, the gun, the target, the ammo, but in the end the shot really depends on the SHOOTER. 8) 8)
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I don't like blaming the shooter, cause that's me!

I always blame the shooter, so it's all your fault, Len.

I'm pretty well convinced that almost all the variation I see up to 15 yards with any ammo is shooter variation. The only way I'm going to do one ragged hole is to shoot one ragged shot and go home. There is a fellow I see frequently at the range I use who can usually put 10 rounds of any ammo from any of my .22's in a 1" shoot'n'see after he figures out where I have the sights set. At 25 yards and beyond, the quality of the ammo, firearm and how the ammo and firearm get along starts making a difference.

I like messing around with new (usually inexpensive) ammo I come across. Sometimes you find stuff one or two of your guns like and do well with. The Xpert HV was one of those. The few rounds I fired did well in the pistols I had. Turns out my Rugers wouldn't feed it. The 22A, Single Six and Buck Mark seem to do very well with it (more "research" needed). I may even mess around with a Ruger magazine to see if I can fix the feed problem. If not, I have another choice for shooting three of my .22's.

A piece of the fun with my .22's is messing around with different ammo. I have my fall-back, everything shoots well ammo.

Alot of the time it's the ammo that causes my off center shots, but sometimes it's the sun. We get alot of sun in the "Northern parts of Detroit". That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

It's that different drummer you march to.

If I put all the rounds in the same hole every time, shooting would be boring. I'm never bored.

Yes, Grasshopper. The challenge would not be there and that is the element to make it fun, Had an extra scope around so put it on the Henry and may get to try it id the DAMN WEATHER gets jut HALFWAY decent, not asking for really good, just not rotten.

Gave the Xpert HV another try in the MKIII 22/45, MKIII Hunter and MKII GC. I couldn't get it to feed in the 22/45, the rounds just rammed into the bottom of the feed ramp. It fed consistently in the Hunter. It fed consistently in the GC for a while and then started sticking in the entrance to the chamber and then started hitting the feed ramp. When I could fire it, the consistency wasn't as good as Federal 510. With the GC I was getting 90% of my rounds in sub 1" groups at 15 yards. The Xpert was sub 3".

This stuff shoots pretty well in the Single Six and 22A and reasonably well in the Buck Mark. The Ruger MK's do not like it. I'm pretty convinced that I won't be a regular Xpert HV customer.

Rob. for just all around fun shooting and not tying to impress anyone or even myself, I stick with the Federal Bilk from Wallyworld. Nothing impressive but it justs gets the job done and seems to work well in all of my pistols nd rifles. For accuracy Good old CCI SV is always there doing a good job. Fiocchi #22CRN and Eley Sport shoot very accurate i the 10/22's, the Henry and the Great Eight GC, CCI Blazer really impressed me in the 10/22T, the other guns shoot i t but not that accurate. As far as feed problems none of the guns seem o have one. Tried Federal Automatch once and it did not impress me either. Tried CCI Green Tag and it cost 3 times as much but was not 3 times as accurate.Just the thoughts of an old man. The Henry has really impressed me as it has not had over 200 rounds through it yet and it is not a foul stocked gun, just a forearm attached to the barrel. :o

I've found that Federal or CCI 40gr SV ammo does well in everything I shoot. The Automatch has been pretty good. The federal value pack does reasonably well in everything I shoot. I just like to mess around with the other stuff to see what works. It's part of the fun of shooting .22's. Until I saw the pattern I got with the Xpert HV in my GC yesterday, I was pretty well convinced that, at my level of skill, ammo type didn't much affect the results I'd get at 15 yards.

The only other upside to this messing around is I was tempted to buy a couple of cases from CMP a while back. But I had fired Aquila and Centurion and knew that it didn't work well in any of my semi-autos.

Rob, you should order some of that Eley and Fiocchi that I have used and give it a try. No one seems to stov=ck it so I usually order it from Midway USA.

I went out to our rustic shooting range in the woods Saturday & shot approximately 450 rounds of the Winchester Xpert 22 HV with my MKIII Hunter with fairly good results. All the rounds fed & ejected properly, with only one dud that didn't fire. Accuracy was pretty good, considering I was only plinking at pieces of 4x4 that were standing on a wooden rail & some plastic Coke bottles (filled with water initially). They are some cheap bullets, but I believe I will refrain from future purchases of this ammo. Xtremely dirty ammo to handle (grey lead fingers!), plus Xtremely dirty pistol when I finished shooting.
