Installed the VQ Accurizing kit and Exact Extractor - YEAH!
My first post:D ! Last week, I took the plunge and installed the VQ Accurizing kit and Exact Edge Extractor in my Ruger Mark III Hunter pistol (stainless fluted 6 7/8" barrel). I've read some horror stories about how some Ruger owners were having a difficult time field/detail stripping the Ruger Mark III. But that was not the case with me. With the help of this website (thanks Bullseye) and a YouTube video I was able to do the installation in a couple hours and I ended up with no extra parts:lol: . I did some dry firing tests with dummy rounds and all looks good. The dummy rounds cycled through the pistol without any issues. I also took the time to adjust the trigger adjustments. It feels awesome now. I checked the trigger pull with my gauge and got an average trigger pull of 2 lbs 5 ozs. I can't wait until the next open day at the range to put the pistol through its paces. I've already put about 1.5k rounds through the pistol with the OEM trigger (got the pistol a couple months ago) and now I can't wait to put more ammo through it! I'll see if I can get some photos up in the future.

Welcome to the forum and glad to hear you had no problems with your gunsmith work. Actually if you pay attention and follow the directions you will not have any problems. The trigger pull sounds about right, all my MarkII's which just have the VQ sear and extractor and an altered Ruger trigger are in the 2 to 2-1/4 pound range and very crisapmauiblue wrote:My first post:D ! You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Your experience with that Hunter upgrade will benefit you for years to come. Not only did you gain a better feeling pistol but also the confidence and understanding to tackle many maintenance issues that may arise in the future. A little application of Locktite sealant will preserve your trigger settings and prevent them from shifting under the forces of recoil.
Good luck with that new pistol.

Always take some tools to the range, you never know when you or the other guy may need to use them. Sometimes after the initial adjustment as thing seat they change a little and need a re adjustment. Tools and the second gun are like the spare in your car, you may not needs them but if you do they are sure nice to have. Remember as far as the second gun, it is the fastest reload you can do.OpsMgr wrote:Welcome to the forum and put some loctite on the adjustment screws as recommended. I always carry tools in my gun box to facilitate any minor maintenance issues or adjustments for mine or anyone else's pistols. It's gotten so bad that I now usually carry my armorer's kit to the range in the trunk too, because I end up spending more time fixing other people's pistols than I do shooting my own.

Thanks to all that has posted to my thread. After I did adjust the pretravel and overtravel screws I made sure I put a drop of loctite on the threads so that they wouldn't back out. Thanks bearandoldman, OpsMgr, and Bullseye for mentioning about bringing the hex wrench to the firing range when I do go out with the pistol first time out. I may need to do some minor adjustments and not having the hex wrench when I need it would have ruined the day.
This weekend I was able test my Ruger Mark III Hunter. The pistol worked flawlessly! I was able to shoot on both Saturday and Sunday (and still make it home in time for the big game today) and I was so happy to report all is well. The trigger pull feels great and crisp. I put about 500 rounds through it and I was also able to sight in my new Trijicon red dot. Fortunately the adjustments I did at home with the trigger was perfect as I didn't need to do any more tuning at the range.
