What do you guys use for a range bag? The last few trips, I've been using my gym back. While it's better than nothing, it's certainly not "ideal".

At the plate shoot last week, I saw a few guys who had range bags that had small pistol bags. They would use those to bring their pistols up to the line. That seemed a heck of a lot easier than lugging the plastic case to the line that my MKIII came in.

I use something almost identical to this, but it says "Winchester" on the side. Nice bag, not too big, and easily carries two to three pistols along with all sorts of various ammo.



I like the pistol rugs, kinda like this one.



When I have a choice, I prefer either the Kolpin brand or the Bob Allen. Both brands have good workmanship and sturdy zippers.

I do have two pistols that are transported in hard cases. The small one is just for transport,



And the larger one is a grab and go kit, with most anything that I should need while at the range.

I use a couple Soft-Tool-Bags... ( HarborFreight.com )
one for "stuff" (cleaning, tools, staple-gun, target-dots, small-binocs, etc...)
second for "ammo de jour"

check out a nice pistol box like a gun-ho. You mount your spotting scope to the inside of the lid, so when you get to the range you just put the box on the table, open it up and go.

Plastic craftsman red and black tool box with lift out tray from Sears.

Works great and is very durable. Amazing how much stuff you can fit in it.

I've used a variety



The green soft side has two pistol rugs. The black rectangular bag is a softside that supposedly carries 3, works much better with two. The softsided tool bag is handy because it is easy to carry targets, stapler, binoculars, ammo and sometimes a pistol or two. Lots of pockets to lose things in.

One of the more interesting range kits is a guy who bought three tool boxes, one with drawers from Lowes. They stack on a rig that has wheels and a collapsable handle.

For a day of varmints at the killing fields I like this.


It accommodates all my "stuff" and the detachable lower unit can doudle as an ammo carrier or even an ice/food chest.
Lots of segregated compartments for everything from a torque wrench to gun solvents/oils.



These are marketed by B&D as well as Sears/Craftman.
Reasonably priced too!

Decisions, decisions.

I use an old Dell computer bag, Its got many pockets, and holds a ton.

I could see a computer bag as a good idea. They are big enough to allow for a pistol with a scope mounted on top and they don't draw a lot of attention when heading out to the range.

My wife and I went the Cabella's store yesterday. I couldn't find a decent bag...which was pretty surprising. They had a few hard cases, but no range bags. I saw a few clay shooting bags, but they weren't what I was looking for. I was looking for something that could cary a pistol or two a few boxes of ammo. Nothing fit the bill. I guess I'll look online.

One of my wife's coworkers is really into shooting. I'll see if I can borrow his Ruger catalog. Ruger didn't have any bags listed on their site.

I had no idea these would be so hard to find.

There are so many options for range bags it is almost impossible to decide. The one I use most of the time I got from the NRA store. It is just large enough for everything I need for two pistols for a couple of hours of shooting. For bullseye shooting I use a regular pistol box with the side that opens up and I attach my spotting scope. I forget who makes it.

Besides the NRA store check out Midway USA, Midsouth Shooters Supply, Cheaper Than Dirt, Top Gun Supply, Waller's, Champion's and lots more that don't come immediately to mind. If you are on here posting then you should have no problems finding any of those sites through Google or your favorite search enging.
