Ammo prices going up?

My brother wandered into a small gun shop in Northern Ohio and as it was slow ended up talking with the owner a while and he said prices would be making the largest jump in a long time in March. I was just @ CDNN and they had a notice that prices would go up 10-25% in March. Anyone else hear this?

In Gander Mtn. a few days ago I ran across my favorite sales guy. He said they had gotten a heads-up from main office that most ammo would go up about 20% in "early" March. So that matches what you heard.

Supposedly because brass and other ammo materials are up.

I've had 21k + rounds (I'm all .22) for a while, but I still left Gander with two new 525 packs of Federal (on sale $15). Now 22k +..... :thumbs up:

I have been watching the price of oil this week. It took a big jump and so did gas at the pump. Which means transportation cost will go up like they did a while back. Supplies like bullets which are heavy and require high amounts of energy to make will take a big jump again, if it stays up.

I kind of saw this coming and purchased 2 yr supply of bullets at the first of the year, too add to my current 1+ yr supply. Now if they would just get my powder in. I buy powder (8#) and primers (10k) min at the same time so I only have to pay 1 HAZMAT fee.

I like to keep at least 1 yr ahead on my reloading supplies. Last time I was able to keep shooting when supplies dried up. I don't expect a shortage but I do expect prices to jump on bullets again.

I buy my 22 ammo from WM as I find it in stock. The last time I checked I had close to 10k rounds, so I'm set for a while.

As long as they don't go up over 20% I think shooters will still buy but maybe cut back a little due to cost of gas going up too. Will have less to spend due to the prices at the pump. Most of the places I visit have a good supply of every thing right now. So there should be no shortage if you can afford the higher prices. Hopefully they will not start Panic Buying as this will make every thing more expensive and cause a shortage again.

News says oil dropped yesterday after Saudis announced a production increase to cover Libya's possible shortage. So naturally my usual station went UP eleven cents this morning. It is, being my favorite, still the cheapest in area with decent quality gas. The others went up, too. It's $3.15 for regular at mine, others as much as $3.35.

My ammo pile makes me happy, as most of it is from Wally World getting $13.87 for Federal 550 packs. Now it's $18.97 and I quit making special trips for it. Gander's 525 packs are normally only $2 more, and it's less headache to go there.

Ammo Envy

Wow. I have a severe case of ammo envy. I feel like a total slacker when looking at my meager stash. I plan to change that at the gun show tomorrow.

Well the LGS has a sale on so I went over and picked up two more bricks of Blazer $13.99 (which my 22/45 & 10/22 both find agreeable) and passed the 10k range.

Buy while you can as it is only going to go up as lead is being dispensed all over the world these days. A good crisis cannot be wasted.
