I am a double amputee and would like to have a shooting range at my home. My kids and I like to shoot .22 rifle and the ruger pistols. We shoot rifle at spinners at about 50 yards and the pistols at about 50 feet. What kind of range would you build? THANKS!!!!!

Jack D has developed his own durable bullet trap for home use. Why not take a look at his solution for building a home range in this thread.

I am thinking about a outdoor range although I have thought about a indoor in the 30x60 shop. My home is on 13 acres with woods around me. I don't have to worry about strays. At what distance do you like to shoot .22 rifles and pistols? If you went to a comp, what size targets do they shoot and at what distance? What do you think about reset steel targets and at what distance are they safe to shoot? THANKS!!!

We built one at our hunting camp for small bore 22 rimfire from 25 to 50 yards. The back stop is a 2X6" wood frame held off the ground on 4X4" post that holds a piece of sheet steel at a slant angled out from the top so the lead bullets drop down and can be safely discarded. In front of the steel is what we call builders board(1' thick black material comes in 4X8' sheets) and is perfect for attaching targets. Now, we have a safe area behind this target, but we have had no errant shots. Regards
We shoot this USBR target at 25 and 50 yds (US Bench Rest). This one was shot at 25 yds with a pellet rifle for practice.

I have been thinking about the same thing for my dad's place. I already have 2 large target stands for tactical and/or paper targets.
But I'm going to get some of these reactive ball targets to have fun with handguns.

and some of these for a gallery.

My dad wants me to pick up all my brass, which I do any way. But if I setup a gallery where I will be moving around that will be more difficult.
