Loaded Chamber ?

Can anyone tell me why Ruger engineered the "loaded chamber indicator" into the Mark lll pistol??? I just cleaned my mark lll today, and like always, the dirt is hard to clean from the crooks and crannies around this "never used device"(at least I don't use it). I can see how evolution would delete the human brain of common sense because all the "tree huggers" want to do our thinking for us.
I was at the range yesterday, and my ruger jammed because of the residue build up of a couple hundred rounds. First time for that. I was using this forum's "chosen" ammo though, Remington Goldens.

I took the LCI off mine and put it in the parts box......

The LCI is there as a measure to let even the most incompetent shooter "customize" their pistol, by removing the useless and superfluous device.
What really annoyed me was that the devices removal didn't give me a "visible brass" LCI, like most of my other pistols have.
Wouldn't a cutout-style LCI have satisfied Ruger's paranoia RE lawsuits and appeasing asshat state legislators? I will never understand why putting extra mechanical interference in the feeding/extraction path was considered a good idea.

Some safety features are good, and it depends on the operator, but I have "never" used the LCI and never would trust it. I mean, if I saw the LCI flush, I guess I shouldn't check the chamber for ammo? Too many things to think about can cause accidents.

I'm with you there, Hakaman ... I'm happy to have a cutout to confirm defensive pistols are loaded and ready to go ... but I would NEVER trust any device other than the mk1 eyeball and finger to check a chamber empty.
Features like grip interlocks, two-part triggers, firing pin blocks, "cocked" indicators, and a host of other good safety features have been added to firearms to make them safer ... and in most cases they are good things. The Ruger mkIII LCI is a dud, but at least it is easy to remove if not desired.

It was a compliance response to sell pistols in states that mandated these types of devices on pistols sold within their boundaries.

Dobze, was thinking about them but could not remember the name, it haas been some time. My grandmother, my mothers mother was a great cook and baker. And she made real Punchke, about tennis ball size with raisins in them and no other fillinng cooked in lard and sprinkled with powder sugar. Took them home in a brown paper bag and by the time you got home the bag was almost transparent from the grease, damn they were good.
