MidwayUSA

Post by Hakaman » Sat Jul 18, 2009 7:35 am

I recently ordered 400rds of rifle ammo from MidwayUSA, 200 90gr, and 200 70gr, shipped 100/box. When I received the shipment (which was very prompt) 2 of the 100rd boxes were broken open, and the bullets rattling around in the shipping box. I called and complained to MWUSA and they sent me out 2-100rd boxes, matching the boxes that were open during shipping. Hey, now that's what I call CS, customer service. Guess what. The next order of GS (gun stuff) didn't go to some other company, it went to MWUSA. I ordered GS late friday (yesterday), and it still shipped the same day. I guess what I want to say is , CS pays off. I wish the US auto companies would listen to this theory. While all these corporations have "fat cats" sitting at the top hogging big bonuses, MWUSA has really impressed me for it's care for their customers. Thumbs up to MW.

Good customer service should be the standard and not something unusual to write about. I think, in this case, Midway did more than they had to, but it is great to hear when someone goes above and beyond minimal response. I've always had good service from Midway. With posts like yours and my experience, I will probably continue to be a Midway customer.

I'm trying to spend $25,000 or so of my boss' money on a rush basis and am having a devil of a time getting a couple national companies to let me do it. You'd think we are not in a recession the way they dawdle. Nice to there are a few companies out there that believe in satisfied customers.

Every order of bullets I have placed with them came with the box broken open and UPS had taped the box up to keep any more from leaking out. I end up weighting the bullets trying to figure how many are missing. They have done this every times I order bullets, WHAT A HASSEL. My next order will be with Natchez Shooting supplies. I have ordered 1000's from them and never even had a internal box leak. Midway S&H is not very desirable. I will not order bullets from them, most every thing else seams to be OK.

Have you let Midway know about this? If you don't let them know, they cannot correct the problem.

I can understand your beef, but, as you read above, they resent me 200rds. Funny thing about the 2nd shipment, they were not packaged very well as I could shake the box and the 2 - 100 rd boxes were easily flopping around with little effort. Me and Blue can't be the only ones in this situation, but as Geezer mentioned, you should have complained when it happened. Now, it's after the fact.

I have talked to them about it, several time. Yes they do send some bullets based on weight, but I'm not sure that it accurate. I've had been keeping logs so I will know how far they are off. On the first order of 5k bullets they used peanuts to hold 60# in place, NOT. With 40# in the other box also busted open. The next order they thought the large air bags (large) will secure them, NOT. Everyone was busted flat. I have even sent the president/owner a email, because he wanted some feed back so I gave him some. His response was he was retraining his shipping personnel. So far, it has been a hopeless case. When the internal boxes are busted it's a mess to get the styrofoam peanuts seperated from 3k-4k bullets. I even emailed the president/owner of the previous problems and he assured me the problems were corrected, NOT. I will order most any thing from Midway, but it will not be bullets.

I'm not alone when it comes with reloaders supplies bullets, others who have ordered more than 2k has had the same problem. I have given them 3 tries, and they are yet to get a single 1k to me without the box being broken. If they would just tape up the boxes the bullets come it with the clear tape it would help keep the boxes together. I think there shipping is min wage and just don't care..... and/or high turnover.. They can test there packing real easy just pick it up and drop it from 3 ft and take a look in side. Better yet for each fail test drop it on there foot or head, they may learn quicker that way.

I like Midway but they can not ship bullets of any quanity >100 without the boxes breaking open.

With Natchez being the same price I will pick them just because it's not worth the trouble dealing with midway. Natchez HAZMAT fees are lower along with lower prices on powders. I have ordered the same quanity and more from Natchez and I have yet to get any boxes loose bullets or get busted open.

I hear ya blue, and I don't blame you for ordering from Natchez. Maybe I will give them a try on the next order of bullets. Thanks for your input, Haka

If I have any other choice, I stay away from UPS. By my experience they could break a cannon ball and lose an aircraft carrier. Every package I get looks like they dragged it behind the truck for the last two miles.

Can't just bullets be shipped Postal Service? I know they can't do complete ammo. I do lots of Priority Mail. Cheaper and faster than UPS, and I've never gotten so much as a dirty box from them.

I have just received another order from Midway, and although nothing was broken open, the contents were not packaged securely. In fact, when I received the box, you could rotate it 360 deg's and hear/feel the contents shifting around way too much. Nothing was broken: 1) Frankford Arsenal "hands free powder funnel kit", 2) 3 boxes(60rds) of Win 7.62x54r ammo, and 3) Score-High single shot follower, all of which were jumping around in the box. I will give MWusa this, they are about the fastest shippers around, and I have to give praise to their customer service (my experience anyway).
thanks, Haka
