Gun Safe

I was wondering what kind of gun safe to buy. I suspect I will have 5 long rifles(at the most), and maybe 10 handguns before the buying bug subsides. I would like to keep some personal things in the safe as well, like papers, will, insurance documents, etc. I was looking at the Centurion 17, 20. Could use some advice. Do you have any recommendations ?

My first thought is, get one bigger then you think you need. Way bigger!! Liberty sells more than anybody and their's is a pretty good product. I have a Fort Knox and I am very happy with it. I would be happier if it were bigger.

I have a large Fort Knox purchased ten years ago that has been worth every penny. Like you I started looking at which one and sometime in the process I went to a Lock Smith to have some keys made and he had several used safes sitting there including what turned out to be my Fort Knox. He changed the combination to my spec and delivered at a fraction ($400)of what a new low end safe would cost. People will sell a safe at a loss when they move or have life changes as moving a safe is a big deal. Charlie is right in that you will fill it up. Firearms get beat up if jammed in to tight. Almost as important is to hide your new safe. Stick it in a closet(build it one if you have to) where it is out of sight to visitors/workmen to your home. Instruct family members that the safe is private family business, and it is best that it's existence is unknown. No show & tell

You will love the peace of mind a safe provides. Regards

I purchased a large Fort Knox 12 years ago and damn glad I did so! It has just about paid over half what it cost back then. I cut out the 2 large bank safety deposit boxes and those were 45 dollars at the time. So doing the math I will most likely have paid for the complete safe in another 5 years or less. Word of advice, buy the largest one you can fit into your house because you will soon fill that sucker up.
