I was wondering if anyone self trains, for accuracy and overall proficiency.
I like to get some formal training, but it looks like my job may be about to go pear shaped so I don't want to sign up for anything right now.
But the GC membership is paid up and .22LR is cheap. I've been using the dot torture sheet, and it's improving my aim as well as my target acquisition.
What else out there is good for this kind of practice?
Does anybody self train?

Self Train.??
Hello: Am I correct to assume self training for Bullseye shooting. If it is I 've been self training since 1993. I shoot iron sights. 50yds slow fire, 25 yds timed fire and 25 yds rapid fire. I use a timer. If this interests you, let me know. I am always happy to pass on things that I have learned. Regards

Self training is kind of a generic term, everybody self trains in one way or another. If you're interested in some literature about bullseye shooting I can recommend no better than the downloading the USAMU pistol shooting guide. http://www.bullseyepistol.com/amucover.htm Lots of good training techniques are found in this manual.

Self Training
You can read all the books in the world and get a very good start by self training. In the end you sometimes need a good coach or experienced shooter to help you out. I have been shooting indoor bullseye (rimfire at 50ft for 4 months now). I have alternated between a coach and self training when my shooting partner/coach is out of the area. I started out shooting anywhere from 540-620. He coached me up to 720 in about a month. I've been self training since then and now I'm running 800-820. I've hit a peak and stopped climbing now it's time to bring the coach back in. Kinda helps to have someone who can pick you apart in correct the little things you don't notice.
