Primarily because I live in ND and have a very low crime rate, I've never had a reason to even draw. have had a CCP since 83. My only reason to ever draw would be to protect myself or family, but if ever forced by circumstances to do so I would. Let the jury decide.

Some common points that I read are:
1) You'd have to be there to really know what you would actually do. (fully agree)
2) The BK had too many customers to safety start a gun fight.
3) The robber was willing to use his gun.
4) IMO, the CPL'r jumped the gun (no pun intended)

feel free to add your own points

To some extent yes he did , but his biggest mistake was to try arguing with the BG, he is damn lucky to be alive. You don't want to make a guy holding a gun angry, it just does not make common or uncommon sense.. He should have beeen patient and ready and let the guy have the money, insurance will replae that easily but can not give a life back . After he got the money he probably would have left but then if he looked threatening then draw the gun and use it. He has tjh time from when he sees it until you shoot to drop it,if he is slow to make decisions too bad, there are no rules of courtesy or protocol in a gunfight. If he does not drop it ha has made his choice. And the yes I would until the threat was gone, either he turns and runs or falls on his face.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I live in central Fl and more and more armed citizens are dropping the BG. There have been 5 ccw holder that have saved peoples lives here in the last few months...and until you are in that position it is easy to be an arm chair quarterback.....I am not trying to make any one mad...but I have been carrying ccw for 32 years. in four different states....A very close friend of mine is a Sheriff and they are so happy that citizens in this state are carrying and defending lives that are in danger. This does not mean that you go out looking for it ...but if you are there and you save a young girl's life or an elderly person in a parking lot...more power to you.....

We have to stop making excuses for our right to defend our life and others lives...these BGs are scum and predators.

You may not agree with me on this but as a Veteran I severed so we could all have the right to freedom.
BGs take that away from all of us.

Thanks dri-wash for your reply, and thanks for serving our country. Although I have never served in the military, my father was a Marine in WWll. I take pride in the fact that he served. As far as freedom being taken from us, I think the government is the biggest threat. I think the concern in the story, that started this thread, was whether the GG acted appropriately and logically in this situation. Did he have to draw his weapon and challenge the BG, and endanger many possible patrons in BK? After all, the robber was killed, and the GG was shot 3 times. Could this situation have diminished without any shots being fired?
Thanks again, Haka
