Cold Weather Shooting

It being winter, the grackles are raiding my chicken coop again. They fly in through the chicken hatch, bathe in their water, scatter their food and crap all over everything.

They "stage" in a tree near the coop. If I shoot from the garage, I can get a good angle on the tree with several miles of nothing behind it.

Question is this: Is it better to leave the gun (Savage in .17HMR with a good scope and a bipod) in the garage at a constant, if DARN cold temperature, or lug it back and forth whenever a shot presents itself?

Pros would be less chance for condensation. What are the cons?

Ya gotta jerk harder than that, there's a lot of slack in that chain

Actually, can't get close enough to whack 'em with a scattergun, and it wouldn't be as much fun anyway.

I think I would leave it in the garage, unless you are only outside for a very short period of time.

I don' t know but itwould be an excellent time to experiment if there is a shift in poa/poi between a room tep bbl/ammo and freeze your fingers handleing it cold bbl/ammo .... shoot aome targets both ways and let us know the results.....bonus is that you get to shoot stuff!
