Thanks guys. I have a nice arkansas stone. What I was thinking is to have the face of the hammer, above the stone and perpendicular to the stone. Then lightly move the hammer to and fro keeping it perpendicular all the time. This way only the small flat area, just below the hook, will be in contact ...

I have modified my markIII with a Radar trigger, VQ sear, MarkII hammer and Clark bushing. The end result is a very nice trigger pull with a little creep left. If you get the MarkII hammer, I would suggest to get the Clark bushing. It removes most of the creep. But best of all, you can take out the magazine disconnector and spring.
