slow fires

Welcome to my world  !! I identify with the slow fire problem all too well. I too have struggled with slow fire seems forever. There was a time in 01-03 when the planets seemed to be better aligned for me. I had given up caffeine and I was shooting 22 and air pistol every day. 22 scores were in...

Just an idea. Why not put a second hole in the rear of the front sight base like nearly every other factory rifle used to do? They always had the front screw covered by the sight blade, but they usually had a second screw that showed. If you're set up with decent metal working equipment it shouldn't...

The solution I found to avoid rust and humidity in my vault (4'x8'x8') was to leave a 60w light bulb on constantly. The long life ones will usually last for 6 months of constant use. I've not had any issues in 16 years.

Colt Ace

Bullseye,
When you were shooting the Ace conversion, how was the accuracy.

the only feedback I ever see was that they were suitable for plinking and practice, never anything from one who has actually used them in BE competition.

TIA

return to forum

From his beginning posts, I had a gut feeling about this forum not being a good fit for M60FMJ. I found myself not reading his posts because of the nature of his questions and attitude. Just my opinion but I think he's spent way too much time shooting on video games and not enough actual trigger tim...

Piasa, I can give you a brief list of stuff that shoots 1 1/2" or less at 50 yards with every target pistol I own (5 Rugers, 4 Hi Standard Citations, Browning Buckmark, and a Marvel Conversion). CCI Standard Velocity (blue box) Eley Tenex and Brown Box PMC Scoremaster Aquila SE Lapua Midas M Federal...

Piasa, Would I expect them to shoot better, YES. Would I shoot them better, NO. For a time I played with the idea of getting a Volquartsen tensioned barrel assembly, until I ransomed my original. Every MKII target I have ever Ransom tested shot around 1 1/2" at 50 yards, with good ammo (including al...

m60, FWIW take heed of Greener's advice on getting a 22 first. I would suggest the same for the following reasons. 1. It will take 20-50,000 rounds down the bore to become a better than average pistol shot. Take the price of good 22 bulk ammo and compare it to the price of the cheapest 9mm round ava...

Baldy, Believe it or not, last night I had 2 failures to feed on my MKII stainless slab side. The first time I had to double check to make sure I wasn't shooting one of the Hi Standards. But no! So I racked back the slide to eject the faulty round and chamber a fresh one. Da*^^, did it again. So now...

Mountain Man, Having never had a 41 I can't speak from personal experience. However, the armorer that builds my 45's and tweeks my Rugers, has owned and has worked on a lot of them. So my info comes from his sharing of knowledge of them, and my buddy that shoots BE with me that owns one. In the 70's...

Comps

Jstan, While I agree with your assessment of looks of compensators (I like their looks too), Hardball is right. Remove it if you want to get the best accuracy from your 41. I have 4 Hi Standards that I've tried the factory compensator on and every one shoots worse with it than without. I also have a...

Before putting the CCI on paper remember to scrub the bore with a nylon brush, otherwise your first few shots may be out of the group.

I'm thinking the CCI will be a ragged hole.

Your accuracy experience with CCI SV definitely is contrary to my own. I religiously shoot CCE SV for matches because it always goes off and will shoot under 2" with EVERY 22 target pistol I own and under 1 1/2" with 7 out of 8. Including 3 Hi Standards and 5 Rugers. May I suggest scrubbing out your...

Finally got around to shooting a few NMC wed nite. Talk about rusty. I put about 20 rounds downrange to accustom myself to the triggers again, then started the course. Ruger MKII, Ultra Dot, CCI Blazer, 50" indoors. SF-92 TF-98-x0 RF-96-x2 Second round not nearly as nice. Had a 6 & 7 sneak out on th...
