What AR do you........?
I have wanted a center fire semi-auto for quite a while. I was thinking about an M1 or M1 carbine, but they have always been a little more than I wanted to spend for a surplus rifle. Then last fall I shot a friends AR-15 at the club. I knew I had to have one. He told me Cabelas was having a sale on ...

Re: Grips for single six
Will the new black plastic or hard rubber grips work on a mid seventies single six? Thanks Shelby Chastain I recently purchased a new single-six. I also have a Black Hawk from the late 60's. I still have the walnut grips from that revolver because I replaced them with Herrett Shooting Star grips. B...

It is funny how .22 ammo and .22 pistols work. I shoot the CMP White Box. I understand it is actually Eley Sport. I have used it in my Ruger Mark II and Marvel conversion without any problems at all. I had some initial problems in my Benelli MP 95. Every now and then I would get a failure to fire wi...

Mech-Tech - Any One Shooting One
http://www.mechtechsys.com/ Is anyone shooting one of these? Last week I shot one mounted on a 1911 frame. It was after bullseye league, so I was shooting light target cast .45 ACP loads. The mech-tech shot real nice. It seemed reasonably accurate with a red dot scope on top. I have a 1911 that I a...

I think the gauge is still out there if you look hard enough. I remember articles a long time ago. If I recall correctly, the results were mixed. If you are shooting a rifle sport where the last .001" counts, a rim gauge might help. For the rest of us, the time spent with a rim gauge would be better...

bearandoldman, you are absolutely right. But think of it as a journey, not a destination. I'm trying to shoot 100 10X with my Marvel. 100 8X was my best for a long time. Then in February I shot 100 9X. For a brief moment I almost felt I could see the destination, but then it was gone. So I guess the...

What gives with today's manufacturers? Have we shooters become so complaisant that we've become accustomed and acceptant of such low standards? I mean all my 100 year old Mausers, Swiss and other rifles/pistols seem to be a quantum leap above today's products. What gives? A hundred years ago they p...

Interesting question. I know people who put off cleaning their 1911 forever because they think they will wear out their barrel bushing by taking the gun apart. I also read somewhere that after your load the 1911 you should not rest it on the bench while you wait for the Range Officer because it will...

I'm almost done with my first case. (5K) One of eight. About 1,000 went through my MKII and 4,000 through my Marvel. I have had maybe 10 to 15 failures of all kinds. In both guns it is very reliable and very accurate. Good stuff at a good price. I don't buy ammo based on the aroma, but the Aguila wh...

It is going to depend on what competition you shoot. I shoot Bullseye Pistol at 50 feet, 25 yards, and 50 yards. I zerro my .22 at 25 yards, and no adjustment is required. I am dead on at 50 feet and 50 yards. If you are doing serious precision shooting, you are better off adjusting your sight rathe...

That shows that you are snapping at the bullseye. Your coach could load a dummy round in your magazine, and you would be able to see the flinch when the gun doesn't fire. You are snapping off the shot when everything looks right. Not a good way to get a good score. Let the gun wobble around and sque...

Unless you want to shoot NRA 2700 matches, you probably don't need a 1911. A lot of leagues have a rimfire and center fire class. A revolver in .38 or .45 will work for center fire. Actually, a revolver in .45 would work for a 2700 match, but I haven't seen anyone in our area do that. Generally, a S...

I think it depends. Never clean from the bore end unless that is the only way. Unless you are getting leading, a brush is rarely needed. I shoot approximately 240 rounds per week. When I was shooting my MKII, I would clean the bore once every three months. I used Hopies, and a .22 patch with a nylon...
