I'm not at all worried about the minimal labor involved in a dead weight set up, of course. Only be evaluating a few guns' triggers, though it seems important to do so until I have what I believe I need. I may have reason to test some of my older L-Frame revolver actions in addition to the Mark II's...

Thanks, Bullseye. That clears up part of what I need to know to make a choice. At least the Hi-Viz version will fit either of my guns. Judging from other threads on various sites on the web, there are people switching back from fiber-optic light pipe sights, to the original black iron sights for com...

My Competition Target is a 6 7/8" slab side, not bull barrel. Is there a bull barrel similar to the 5 1/2" Target Model bull barrel, but in the longer length (6 7/8") ?

Hi-viz or iron sights for plate competition?

I've always liked regular iron sights in speed plate shooting, but I'm wondering if many competitors have gone over the the Hi-Viz variety of fiber-optic sights for this kind of competition? I've only competed 6 or 7 times in 20 years and haven't noticed recently which type people are using. I think...

Home from a long trip. 3 more Walmarts in western CO, all pricing Fed 550 bricks at $18.47. All were out of Fed Auto Match, which I guess is the best of those I mentioned. I've got some CCI Blazer and will use it in practice for a while. If it doesn't misfire, I'll take it to matches like I did a we...

Match ammo choices for plate shooting?

I've several bricks of Federal Champion 525 bulk pack I bought on sale at Cabelas over three years ago. Before that purchase I'd never had duds in either the Wally Federal 550 bulk packs or the Champion 525 bulk pack. Unfortunately, a friend who warned against that three year old Federal Champion wa...

I had just one double or "run" of more than one cartridge before the gun thankfully jammed. Hadn't happened before, or to me, ever before. Didn't really expect it. And this is one of the lessons - that the action was varying between a roll into the usual break area, and then release - or the double ...

Well, the die is cast and I have another level of knowledge needed to get this gun back into service as soon as I can. I shot a "Regional Match" today and it was a satisfying experience. One that moved me forward. 6th match of any kind in 19 years. Limited goals, but important ones. Didn't lose my c...

I'm in Colorado with limited means to do any correction here now. I'll likely shoot the match because I need the experience. Fired some practice runs yesterday immediately after a 300 mile drive over the Rockies. Needless to say, my Alzheimer's and Parkinson's were in full bloom. And the gun was its...

Thanks, blue68, I'll use this information to make further inquiry in a couple of days when I should have the time to look again. You seem to have intimate knowledge of these workings, and that ought to be a help. For the first time in my life, I'm traveling with Red Dykem!

Thanks for your interest. The double pumping, two stage effect that's made the trigger difficult has the quality of breaking twice. It's an early resistance, then a release to another resistance that is more or less normal. It's not simply 'creep', which I could tolerate - it's the falling into the ...

Yes, Tro3, I still have the Champion glasses. I've been over busy because I have to meet with a partner who I'm caregiver for this week in a nearby state. I'll take these with me in case they'd be what you want. I thought they were for pistol shooters, however. That's what I do, and I bought them fr...

The safety plunger and detent spring are intact and working normally. From an earlier post by Bullseye: "Your line on the sear face sounds from your description like the contact mark between the sear and hammer hook. You can place some marking compound on the sear face and see. ..... Color the sear ...

I took it further last night, working on top of the sear just behind the edge - where the hammer grabs the top of the sear on most of one side. Worked it harder than ever. The horizontal line etched into the part of the sear furthest from the edge started to become blurred and the striated surface s...
