Re: troubles with my MKII

I had ejection problems with a Mark II and no one could find the problem. New springs, ejector, etc. Then I bought a ultrasonic cleaner and dropped it in it (with heat) for 12 minutes and the problem went away. NO ONE can figure what caused it or how it went away. Just a thought. I got it at Harbor ...

Your opinion Bullseye. At the local NRA Regional Brian Zins said he does not like orthapedic grips and recommends we bring slab side grips to his seminar next month. But the Army pistol instructor said if they were not that good olympic shooters would not use them. I do better with them on .22, neve...

Re: Wood vs rubber grips

The pistol instructor at our club prefers wood over rubber since wood does not flex. The same grip is very important, and better achieved with a wood or plastic grip, where as rubber will vary as the grip is increased or decreased. Just his opinion, but good enough for me.

Re: Trigger plunger Spring. Factory v. Volquartsen weight?

I put in the Volquartsen kit and Clark bushing and got a trigger that was well below 2#. Put the stock spring back in and got it slightly above 2#. Second Mark II got the same treatment with the stock spring and came to 2 1/4#. Now have 3 Mark II with the same internal setup which is right where I w...

Re: Lost rebound spring

Get an extra spring and support. The support has a habbit of disappearing and the spring often can bend unless you have no spares........then they will last forever.

Re: 1911 Opinions, I know you've got em'

1911 is my favorite platform. I feel Kimber offers the most for the dollar. For top dollar I would get a Les Baer, and for a little less a Springfield. All are true 1911 platforms with resale/trade in value in the future.

Re: Gun or ammo problem?

I had more than my fair share of increasing misfires with a Ruger II Target. Turning the bullet usually resulted in a fire, but replacing the main spring resulted in almost 100% results. It had 20-30K rounds I guess, and the main spring just did not have enough punch.

Re: Rem HBWC vs Speer or Hornady

Barry's bullets have served me great. I use to use them exclusive until their huge price increase, which sent me to cast lead bullets. When used with clean burning powder leave pistols extremely clean. Accuracy is all I desire. I found it cheapest to buy them from Cabela's in the past. Now just too ...

Re: Walmart Federal 550 and Buck Mark Problems

Had problems with Winchester and Remington bulk packs, but none with Federal - other than a few misfires per box. My preference for bulk practice bullets.

Re: Dan Wesson 15-2VH

I purchased one of these in the early '70's and still have it. Great revolver, excellent trigger and extremely accurate. I bought a S&W 686 to replace it and still prefere the Dan Wesson. Never had a problem with the barrel or nut. I like the idea of being able to remove the barrel and clean it from...

Re: Recommend 1911 for Bullseye Competition?

Les Baer is considered on of the finest for the money. At our club more and more Kimbers are showing and replacing Colt #70's. I replaced my Gold Match rather than invest in a rebuild. I have a Kimber Target Match and a Gold Match II. Both are excellent bullseye guns, but both needed a trigger job. ...

A little pricy, but I like the Dillon electronic scale. Dillon is extremely customer friendly and produces good stuff.

Re: What "aw-shucks" did you do?

Wife ask me if a primer would go off if her vaccuum cleaner picked one up. I said nope. Then I was ask what would make the cleaner go bang and smoke when she cleaned under the loading bench.

Re: RCBS hand primer

Great unit, used one for a 2 years before getting a Dillon progressive. Still use it for .40 which I only load a few hundred a year, not enough to justify dies for the Dillon. A winner for single stage reloading.
