I picked this thing up and finally got it to the range last night. It's my first and only scope, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I really like it so far. Zooming all the way in to 36x magnification just fits all the rings of a B-8 (timed & rapid fire @ 25 yds) target, and .22 holes are crisp...

I've only got one, but I love my stock Model 41. I am thinking about chopping a 7" bbl to replace the 5.5, but there isn't a lot I'd change about it.

Amazing what can happen when you get out of your own way.

I've never shot a .44 but I bet it's fun!

Lesson in attitude adjustment/recoil anticipation

A few weeks ago I went to a range in Las Vegas that rents all sort of full auto and exotic guns. I had fun with the Uzi and H&K MP5, but I actually learned something from the .50AE Desert Eagle. I had 4 rounds. Here’s what was going through my head for each (it helps to know that I have hand, arm, a...

Training question

When training for bullseye shooting, is there a preference between starting out at smaller distances, gradually moving the target farther away as you improve, and putting it out to where you want to end up from the get-go?

Here's a link to the recoil buffer.

Is there any reason not to use it with SV?

I've read and was told by my gun shop that it's not reliable with anything but Eley Target and CCI SV, Mini-Mags, and Green Tag, so I haven't tried anything except CCI SV. I have almost two cases of it now, but when it comes time to order again I don't want to contribute to the shortage by stockpili...

Thoughts on Yukon Firefall 12 - 36 x 50mm Spotting Scope?

Any reason not to buy this badboy for bullseye shooting? Looks good on paper and is relative cheap at $80.

Decibels are on a logarithmic scale where every 3dB is a doubling or halving of the perceived loudness, so the difference between 27 and 30dB is actually pretty big.

I double up, too: foam earplugs under muffs. My hearing is definitely worth more than a box or two of ammo.

Is a recoil spring change enough to make the 41 reliably cycle cheaper HV ammo? I'm practicing with CCI SV, which isn't horrible, but if I can practice with ammo that's half as much for the price of a spring set, so much the better...

Note on the trash can snap cap: The trash cans my local office supply store had are thinner plastic than the author's deluxe model, and my snap cap broke at one of the angles in the U-shape after a while. I can make at least a hundred more for the $4.95 or whatever I spent on the bin, but do listen ...

I can only do indoor, but I'm definitely interested!

Would this be mailing targets in to a coordinator or uploading pictures of them?

I'm extremely green, so take this with a grain of salt, but I personally do best when I view the hole in the paper as an incidental side-effect of my technique, not as a goal itself--more like dry fire practice with delivery confirmation. Maybe this is the wrong approach, but I haven't actually scor...
