Fill the bore full of oil & let stand for several minutes to an hour. Drain out oil. Have or get a dowel/brass rod that is close to bore diameter and a 2# or greater mallet (Seriously) the trick is to use one good firm hit to force the obstruction out. Several taps are likely to ring the bore. I lea...

I'll do as you say. I'm very fortunate to live only a few miles from Montezuma, Iowa, so Brownell's is my local gun parts "store." I can order from their huge inventory and pick up at the front desk. and you still have money to buy a firing pin?! Srsly if I lived any closer to Brownells I'd...

Had one once and had to sell it when hard times hit. They are a fine shooting rifle for sure. Good luck with yours. :) I so understand the 'hard times' bit. My TDS is one, of but a few, that has lasted through the hard times. The "50 yard plinkin" targets are impressive! While the 39 is capable of ...

That's the picture I remembered. I thought for some reason he posted one here too. I guess I got the two websites mixed up. Thanks for posting that picture. R, Bullseye I could swear it was posted here also but I couldn't find it either. When you forum hop as much as most gunnuts do, it's easy to f...

Here's a picture of a commercial jig for the mainspring housing. http://www.marvelcustomguns.com/Ruger%20Mainspring%20Tool%20MK%20I.jpg I too remember one of our members making a home version. I'll look for it and post the pic when I find it. R, Bullseye I remember the Poorman's version by 'onebohe...

I used to be in the low price point camp, but have learned over time otherwise. Quality optics don't make the shooter, but they do help the shooter improve. The Tasco ProPoint fills a niche but the Matchdot is higher quality equipment. I believe the dot is more precise and the sight plane cleaner on...

That is fairly close to the story I have - without the missing parts. When I decided to tear into it and make it 'better' T99's were going for about $40($100 top dollar w/mum and matching everything). It's on the long side especially with the bayo attached but a fine military shooter. There is quite...

Don't worry about it. There will be good days along with the not so good ones. ... He was xx yrs old and still enjoying the simple things in life. These days we tend to forget this little rule of life. Keith, if every target shot was perfect , we'd have no reason to practice and no need for competi...

bfd, I'm glad you are seeing the 1911 advantage. I've been carrying one for years. I've found the Remington Golden Saber to give a green tint to the muzzle flash in low light situations. For some reason the green flash disrupts my night vision less than other ammo. Give some a try. That Citadel look...
