The Model 41 has a firing pin stop in the slide. It can be dry fired without damaging the breech face of the barrel assembly. As with a lot of things, this dry firing should be conducted in moderation, as too much dry firing can either stretch the firing pin or could cause the stop pin to fracture ...

Bpatza is the Man! He's putting together a more cost effective process at the moment but will continue helping out on this subject by providing an alternative to the LCI. Go Bruce go....

Take the time to investigate Tucker Gunleather. I have "The Answer" with the leather lining. It's a little pricier but when you have it broken in, it's as good as it gets. I carry a full size M1911 in it. It's like the Crossbreed design but I don't know which came first...and who cares? Good luck!

Like my "box 'o holsters", I'm slowly putting a 'box 'o grips" together too it seems. Dang....a person almost hates to have to conceal.... Thanks for the he...

Thank you Haka! BTW, I remember in another thread that your favorite pistol currently was your S&W 686 6". I just got a 686 plus only in 3". It'll be for CCW when I want a revolver not carry the full size M1911. I haven't gotten to "play" with it much yet but it's my first "stubby". I'm currently "b...

Hey to Hakaman...
Sorry to hear about your issue and this doesn't address it but how did you take those pictures of the rifling of your bore? Did you just use a point and shoot digital camera set on macro? I'm impressed on how they came out in order to show us... Good luck on your M&P pistola BTW.

FWIW, it's Hornady Critical Defense that I have in my S&W 686 .357 and my speedloaders. Haven't quite reached a conclusion yet on the M1911 however due to feeding concerns. What type of 1911 do you have ? My sprfield loaded will feed anything I stuff in it.....It seems to show a likeing to Hornady ...

Regarding the Hi-Viz sights...

You probably already know this Greener but if not, you can call Ruger and they will send you the square notch rear sight free. I just did but haven't received it yet. At the moment, I have a red dot mounted anyway.

Thank you very much for the welcoming...

I've been lurking for some time now trying to soak up a bit of your vast experience and hope you don't mind. I "made my way" to Mr. Bullseye's forum by way of another very popular Ruger and yet another M1911 forum. I recognize some of your userid's...and stand in your shadow's of the expertise. Anyw...
