Having jeweling done to bolt

Have any of you had your bolt jeweled? Just sent my MK II bolt and my glock 36 barrel for jeweling. Should take about a week to get back.

If anyone has pictures of your jeweled bolt in your MK I II or III can you please post.

Jeweling brings to memory a problem I had some years ago. My wifes cousin had a Ruger .22 Single Six that had been modified for quick-draw. The entire piece was jeweled, frame, barrel, cylinder, etc. He asked me to make a pair of birds-eye maple grips for it. He left it with me and I made the grips and returned it (or so I thought).

A year or so later, he asked me if I still had his revolver. Of course, I told him I had returned it. He said I did not. The search was on. No gun. A few months later, my wife opened a suit case and there it was, stuffed inside with a bunch of clothes. She had put it there for whatever reason and forgotten it.

It was a bright red/orange color. I was sick. Her cousin was understanding, saying he didn't like the jeweling anyway, I had the sights restored and had it reblued. Turned out OK in the end. He was happy and my "free" grip job turned into a costly one.

I once jeweled a bolt myself using a 1/4" wood dowel in a drill motor and valve grinding compound. Worked rather well.

Several years ago, I jeweled a piece of metal for practice because I was wanting to jewel something, I can't remember what it was now. I chucked up a pencil in a drill press and used the eraser and some polishing compound. It turned out pretty nice.
