Bad, bad weather (conserves ammo at least)
In my end of VA, we haven't went 24 hours without rain for the last six weeks. Either all day drizzle, or storms of Biblical proportion.
Wednesday the ground water finally maxed out in a heavy downpour. Many intersections flooded out, signals out, moderate flooding in basements and businesses. I got lucky, my sump pump worked okay and all I had was patches of wet carpet in my basement, which is about 1/3 finished. A Shop Vac and dehumidifier have it almost dry now. Still had a storm ot two every day since, no rain yet today, but it's forecast at 60 percent.
At least, I had planned to go shoot today and didn't, like lots of other days. My Forest Service range gets in ankle deep mud after a good shower, so I'd imagine it's knee deep lately.
I'll wish the rest of you blue, sunny skies!

On July 8th I heard we had already broken a record for total July rainfall, 13.5 inches, with 23 days to go! Then the tenth added four inches in 90 minutes.
If the rain we've had in the last six weeks was in winter as snow, it would total around eight feet.

Well I got 0.2" of rain last night and this morning. Will take all we can get.
As far as saving ammo, NO. When it cools off or raining I just open the garage door and shoot. I have one of those polymer balls hanging up at ~25yrds. After the first shot it starts swinging and fun begins.

Its very nice to being able to open an door in the house and shoot.
The down side is the distance you have to travel to get necessities, FOOD.
By brother came in yesterday and we went fishing last night. About 20 min from the house. There was thunder storms in the area, got .25" rain here at the house, did not get a drop at the lake. We did get a visit from the Game Warden. I've been checked quite a few time on this lake and 1 other. I normally don't fish on weekends do to all the boaters. Normally I'm the only one on the lake after dark. We did get to view some fireworks around the shore line. We brought 5 fish back for my brother to take home to eat. 1 black bass and the rest crappie. Threw back a lot of smaller fish. Getting in at 2:30 AM is not easy on this old man.
