I heard that from my mom, Bullseye. She was dead set against me having a BB gun. The .22 was just fine, but I'd shoot my eye out with a BB gun.

In my case it was my Father who delivered the message. When I lusted for the BB gun he gave me the "speech", but softened the blow by presenting me with a sweet Remington bolt action 22 cal repeater

On the subject of the old Daisy lever action BB guns my remembered experience with one was shooting a friends and neglecting to close the lever. I was certain that three of my fingers were broken

I have that memory etched deeply into my memory from when I was a very young lad. When it happened it felt like my fingers swelled to several times their size. Of course everything is amplified when you add extreme cold to the temperature.

I can still recall instant "snotsicles" when taking a deep breath through my nose in January when the temps dipped below zero. It's like an instant "brain freeze" but without the flavorful taste of a tall frosty cherry Slurpee.

That's one memory that will not be soon forgotten. Now I think that is one that has to be experienced, for it to be embedded into our hard heads (when we were young).

This thread has drifted a little, from Rimfire to BB's.
