MKIII 22/45 doubles_HELP PLEASE???
New MKIII 22/45. I have installed VQ sear, trigger, and extractor. I have done the grip mod using 1911 bushings, mag safety mod and slingshot mod. I have adjusted the trigger according to the response to my question 2 or 3 posts down. Everything seems to work ok at home running dry. Today, first time at the range, the gun doubles about once every magazine. It doubles faster than I can release the trigger to return. I haven't measured the trigger pull, but it is almost too light. I would guess under 2lbs. I haven't messed with any of the parts other than installation. Ideas???
Any doubling is unsafe. I would like you to reinstall the factory sear and sear spring. Retest your pistol for doubling.
Do you have a factory hammer or is it a VQ hammer?
There was a few sears from VQ that could cause a problem like this, by swapping back the original we can narrow the problem down more.

By the way, it never went full auto. It only doubled and stopped. There were rounds left in the magazine.

That's normal to have to adjust the pre and overtravel screws if you change sears. The faces are in different places and that changes the take-up position. If everything else is the same and all you've done is change the sear, you got a sear problem. Write to Nic Volquartsen and describe the problem, installation, and the troubleshooting process. Explain the outcome with the factory sear replacement. He will likely offer to send you another sear.
