Pull out an "assault" rifle in the legislature, declaring it unloaded, and waive it around.

hmmm no "assault flash supressor" no assault "bayonett lug" a thubhole stock...... nice AK variant (MAC90 I believe)..... only the evil 30 round mag to make it an evil gun......

I am glad that one Rep told him to follow proper handling procedures.

Nobody got shot either, so it can't be the rifle that's bad .

Same thing Feinstein did in the CA House back in the late 80's with an AK, muzzle swept the crowd and everything. Morons using firearms as props to score political points just makes me sick. Fortunately the VA legislature seems to be more technically aware of firearms capabilities than their more western counterparts were back then.
