I suppose if there were absolutely, 100% guaranteed, no doubt at all, no guns we would be a little safer. But there are hundreds of other weapons and things that can be used as weapons. It would make little difference.

There are probably well over a billion firearms in the world right now. No one could ever be sure they were all gone. So we have them, use them, and enjoy them. We do what we can to keep them out of the hands of those who can not use them responsibly. That's the only reality you can have with guns.

Nope. They make me feel safer, whether I need them or not

Nothing like a hog leg on the end table while watching tv to make you feel a little more secure.

No. Guns are comforting, they give us security. They also give us a sport that is very enjoyable.

There are a lot more violence by knives than any other weapon. It's so common it never make the news anymore.

There was a sign held by a school teacher on how to stop kids from throwing rocks in the school yard. The solution was to have all kids with rocks. Smart teacher.

By the responses, I wonder if some of you missed the sarcasm of my post?

oh most of us got the sarcasm...... I have found that most of these boards need a "insert sarcasm here" function.

kinda makes me think of the old "if they outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns" line...... very true statement

And many of us would likely transition to the "Dark Side" if a total ban on firearms were enacted.
