Grip screw info

Post by ruger22 » Fri Dec 09, 2011 11:59 am

I got a set of Micarta Bearcat grips through Sack Peterson, that he got on a trade. The grip screw slot is just slightly buggered and I'd like to replace it.

It is a Fillister head, and I think a 5-40, X 1. I don't have thread gauges. It is a tiny bit smaller, with a few more threads per inch, than a 6-32.

Brownell's has brass grip escutcheons with a 5-40 screw, but they are six sets for $19. I can get six stainless 5-40 X 1 Fillister head screws from them for $6.

The question, will these likely match the original grip screw's Fillister head?
