VQ sear and Power Series 1 Stoning Fixture

Post by perazzi » Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:33 pm

Conundrum...

I got my Mark II (III) adapter today. was going to smooth up the VQ sear, but, the stoning Fixture doesn't have enough travel to get the same angle that's on the sear I have!!..

Any input?? Yes, I installed the sear according to the pictures...

If you're trying to use the pre-etched marks on the side of the adapter, then they won't line up with a VQ sear as the aftermarket sear is shorter in over-all length than the OEM Ruger sear. I rotate the adapter beyond the marks until the sear face is horizontally aligned with the fixture and my stone's surface - at the nominal 20 clicks elevation. I use marking fluid to ensure I have perfect alignment with my stones in the fixture before I start cuttting/polishing. This process is involved and takes considerable set-up time compared to the actual stone work.

Thanks for the confirmation. After staring at it for awhile I suspected the same. Think I will throw it on the optical comparitor to align things up first. :

Oh, ok. I eyeballed it..Image

Tried out some new ceramic stones...

Worked like a champ...

almost there......

Damn! I can see my reflection in the sear!! lol

I'm going to go back and make another bushing custom fitted to the hammer. See if that takes out the last bit of sloppiness...

Need to find a bullseye league somewhere....
