Is the MKII & MKIII Recoil Springs the Same?

As the topic says. I think I read some where they were. I was needing to order one for my neighbor's MKIII and was going to order a spare for my MKIII. Brownells does not list MKIII in there parts list.

Thanks, How often do these need to be replaced? Most guns have a maintance schedule, What is in on these pistols?

I cannot say. I don't replace these springs on a schedule, I only replace the ones that feel worn out. It doesn't happen very often.

That's the way to go. If it's broke then fix it, if it ain't broke it don't really need to be fixed.

That one way at looking at it.

My neighbors MKII has less than 2k rounds through it, all 40gr MiniMags. There is no tension when you drop it in the bolt. His bolt is very easy to pull back. When he tried mine he could not believe the difference, greater than 2-3x. There are only 2 springs that put pressure on the bolt, the recoil spring and main spring. Would you change both or just the recoil spring?

Hammer cocked or uncocked? Both guns in the same hammer orientation condition?

Can't see how anything could be worn out with that few rounds. Try sing s trigger pull scale, just feel does not really tell much.

Both were uncocked, don't recall trying it cocked. I guess I will have to check them with it cocked. I see where your coming from and headed to with this....

I got my neighbor to test it with the hammer cocked and he reported there was a significant drop in load. So it looks like he only need a recoil spring assembly.

I wish I was home so we could swap in the RS (and main spring) out of my gun it to his for a comparison.

He should wait until you're back. There should be a significant drop in resistive spring tension when the hammer is cocked due to not having to work against the mainspring tension when moving the bolt.
