Remington 700 and 798 specs
Im looking to get a 798 Rem for my wife or a 700 Rem and I was wondering why are the 700's more expensive and I also was wondering the differences in shooting like twist rate and so on. I was also pondering their qualities. Id like to save a few hundred dollars but, I dont wanna buy a gun and regret it either. Thanks for the help.
Mr. Nail, it seems the 798/799 are outsourced from Russia, while the 700 series are likely mostly built in the land of the free.

They are remakes of the old Interarms MarkX. We used to be able to get them from Chas Daly until Rem bought the contract or made arrangements to be the sole dist. You could get a bbled action for around 300.00 and I have used a bunch of them. Rem got hold of them and they are no longer available except in complete guns offered thru Rem. A commercial grade Mauser that is drilled and tapped, bolt work done and an adjustable (to some extent) trigger. Twist rateds are the same by cal.
