Increasing the trigger pull weight

I know this sounds unusual but I want to increase the trigger pull weight of my 1911 government model by about a pound to make the minimum required for CMP service pistol rules. Is it reasonable to slightly bend the three finger spring to accomplish this, or is there a better way?

Yes, a gentle bending inward of the left to tines of the leaf spring will increase the sear and trigger's tension and hence increase the trigger pull. Bending these spring fingers near the bottom of the tines works best. The leftmost finger adjusts sear tension and the center finger adjusts disconnector tension. As always, do a thorough post maintenance check of your trigger and hammer to ensure there is no "hammer follow" whenever performing any sear/mainspring adjustments.

Thank for the info Bullseye, it's much appreciated and I will do the safety check as you suggested.
