I have three Ruger convertible revolvers: single six (.22 lr and wmr), .357/9mm BH and .45 Colt/.45 acp BH. I haven't shot wmr in years. Monday I took the 9mm and .45 ACP cylinders to the range. I was putting most of the .38 rounds in the black of 50' slow fire target at 15 yards. The 9mm loads went all over the bottom half of the target. I've rarely had much luck finding a9mm load that will fire accurately. .45 COLT and .45 ACP went into the black, the .45 ACP a smidge lower than the COLT.

Ruger's convertibles seem like a great idea, but I have to check the wmr, 9mm and .45 ACP cylinders periodically for rust. WMR seems a bit expensive to cut paper. I haven't found a 9mm load that works well. .45 ACP shoots well and would be great if I didn't have COLT reloads. The BH convertibles seemed like a great idea at the time, but they rarely get used.

My experience as well. The Single-Six I formerly owned fired several thousand LR rounds, and a grand total of eighteen WMRs. One reason I gave it up for my Bearcats.

I'd bet if you were to shoot the WMR at long range it would fair better than the LR, or if you were using it on woodchucks.

the 45 BH probably shoots either round well because they are the same bullet diameter. Which is great since 45acp is much cheaper than the colt .

I'm willing to bet if you loaded up the 9mm with 38spl bullets it would group waaay better. the 9mm bullets are a little undersized for the .357 " bore at .355"... just my random thoughts.

9mm barrels vary all over the place. My Sig 229 9mm slugs at a 0.357" . Which means if I shoot lead I need 36/357 bullets.

I spent a while working up a load for a .358 bullet in a 9mm case. Worked ok, but if you can shoot .38 specials, why bother with 9mm?

If you reload the difference between .45 ACP and .45 Colt cost is I shoot 200 gr lead in ACP and 250 gr lead in Colt. The cost is negligible. If I had to buy cartridges .45 ACP would be the round of choice.

why bother with 9mm? don't know, just something to do I guess.....

at least with the 45 if you forget your 45 colt ammo you can still shoot your 45acp in it.....
