How to mount a red dot?

As one can see from the photo, I mounted a red dot on the monolithic rail of my ar22.
I haven't shot it yet with this red dot, and was wondering how to position it, more forward or
more to the shooter? What are the benefits of either position? or is their a standard distance?

No Rule Just what ever work best. Most all red dots do not have a set eye relief so what ever position comes natural.

you might want to mount it a touch higher ... extra high ring height

didn't you get that to be atrainer for your service rifle? I like the dot but a good set of irons might suit you better for a trainer

I was thinking about that Mr Greener, because it seemed a little difficult to acquire a target downstairs while testing it. I'll have to see what I have to mount is a little higher.
