Prices

Prices of AR's and AK's at the Richmond gun show were 3 times higher than the last gun show I went to. The DPMS Oracle I brought for $599 was going for $1899. Other AR's were $2500 to $3000. AK prices were up like that.

AMMO was up a bit. 55gr and 62gr FMJ .223 was $995/1000 rounds. I didn't do arithmetic on single box prices. Did see some 840 round tracer for $700.

Two reloading vendors are usually at this show. Neither made the show. Georgia Arms was there on Saturday and not Sunday.

Saw a number of folks walking out with black rifles and boxes of ammo. I wasn't moved to buy.

People are in the "get-em while you can" mode and are willing to fork over for those steep prices. The last time I bought .223, the price was $399 for a 1000 rounds of Lake City 62 grain and that was just a few months ago.

The show's motto is "get your guns while you still can" I can't at a buck a bang for .223, yet.

Save your brass. You'll need it at those prices for factory loads.

A guy I know was thinking of selling his AR for $2600. It's a RRA's A2 standard.
I told him 'no way' and that I wasn't going to get caught up in the AR rage that's
overcome common sense. I have heard talk about forcing registration on ARs that
you own. Once they do that they then can ban them with success, all's they have to do
is say that if you don't turn them in you will lose the ability to use your credit cards, can't buy anything.

Even more likely is they'll declare it a felony and then come to collect all your weapons since felons have no guaranteed protection under the law.

Ammo prices

The hoarders are in control, methinks. At my local range, I was still able to buy .223 (PMC) for $6.75/20 rd box as late as Jan 18. Don't know about availablity now cuz I've been working in Alabama for the last month. Went to a local gun show here a week ago and the 'good stuff' was non-existent, and the junk was going for a buck a round. Also, 30 rd PMAGs were offered for $40 each. .22LR (CCI mini mags) were offered for $13.99 for a 100 rd box. Pretty crazy out there...
God bless our troops...especially our snipers.
