Cost of Reloads

Post by Hakaman » Sun Feb 17, 2013 6:01 pm

I happened upon this site while trying to figure out how much it costs me to shoot Service Rifle League/outing (50 rds).
Bulk powder = $18.75/lb
Primers = $35/1000
Bullets = $100/600
Brass = $250/1000 (reloaded 5 times)
=========================
$15.75/50 rds

I came up with

$0.30 a round

$6.00 a box of 20

$30 a hundred

$300 for a case of 1000

not bad for match ammo

if you can find it otherwise you are looking at $17-25 a box of 20 for 5.56 match ammo...... thats a big savings and you can tune your ammo to your rifle.

I have shot this 223 PPU Match ammo before:
http://www.prvipartizan.com/match_ammo.php
At one point, I could get this for $105/200rds, which equals $26.25/50 rds.
The key words are "At one point", cause it's a rare sight to see this in stock
anywhere. It shot quite well, but still not as good as my own loads. Not bad
bgreener @ .30/rd or $15/50rds
PPU = $26.25 per 50 rds (about the cheapest match ammo out there, if you could find it)
Mine = $15.75 per 50 rds (Haka loads shoot the hair off of a gnat's ---)

I was going off your numbers..... when I got those figures.

for my 44 mag loads:

cases $0 already have 'em
primers $30 per 1000 = $0.03 a round
powder $20 per lb (7000gr per lb/7gr per round=1000rounds per lb) =$0.02 per round
240lswc bullet $55 per 500=$0.11 per round

OR.....

$0.16 per loaded round
$8.00 per 50
$160 per 1000

or you can buy it for $20-50 for a box of 20 :shock:
