After finishing the second string on it, I knew was going to be good, but I did surprise myself when I glanced through my spotting scope. That was one of my best targets ever, and the three out of the x ring, were within a bullets width from being in. One thing I quit doing that has helped sustained fire, is never check the target between strings. I see a lot off people doing it, but in my opinion, it can only make things worse. When you see a bad first string, it can play with your mind, and a really good one, plays with my mind even more.

I agree. I never look at any target until all the shots are on it.
Success plays more with my mind than errant shots do.
In an air pistol match some years ago, five shots per target, I had five tens in a nice pinwheel.
I shouldn't have looked. the next target was a 38.
Alas.

Execution is the key. You should generally know before you ever check the scope if the shots are all good. Spotting the shots between strings can cause shooter's anxiety, from both good and bad hits, which is counter productive to good technique. Some folks can look downrange and not get any emotions but most shooter's cannot. If your in the "cannot" category then not peeking is a better idea.
