I don't own a shotgun and really don't know much about them. I'm thinking about getting one and have been asked if I were interested in going duck hunting in Texas early January. Since I'm dumb enough to take off and enjoy freezing my but off missing ducks in January, I suppose I ought to buy a shot gun. I suppose I could end up using one for HD.

Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 3" mag come to mind. Looking for something that would work well and not break the bank.

You can try out my 870 when you come up for xmas...... Both are excellent. A semi auto might be easier on your shoulder.

You did not mention which part of TX your coming too. I have an older Rem 1100 in 20ga Modified choke that's only was used 2 yrs before I bought my Citori. Water foul require the use of steel shot which can not be good on old barrels. It can be used but the shot must be fully encapsulated to protect the barrel. Which I think most are these days. My Citori has a 3" chamber on it and Browning says it can shoot steel shot but use modified choke and lower. The 1100 is a lot softer on the shoulder than my LT Citori. The Citori is very light and 5" shorten than the 1100.

If your in my neck of the woods I will let you borrow it.

btw. TX duck hunting can be very pleasant to very miserable. We don't get a lot of freezing precipitation here. Normally in the mornings it will be a cold damp drizzle just above freezing. A very wet cold. Or it will be a mild 50F.

I don't know alot about SG's, but I do own a Rem 1100. It's a semi-auto 5shot
that doesn't beat you up when you far it. It is also a very popular model. If you
need more tech info, others might be better to ask.

Only shotgun I've had any interest in is a Mossberg pump 20 for home defense. I don't think a pistol grip 20 gauge would work for ducks........ :D
