I have over and unders, semi-auto's and pumps but had never had a side by side. I finally bought a CZ Ringneck 20 GA and love it. I started out at the skeet range and have taken it out for quail a few times last year. What do you think of the side by side as a hunting gun?

Well, the SXS is your classic hunting gun, dating back into the 1800's. Provided a lot of food for the pioneers traveling west. I have owned a couple and they shoot fine although I have had autos' and pump's also, my preference is the O/U. Shoot and enjoy the gun of your choice, this is a free country.

I've shot one (SxS) for a while but I prefer my 20ga Citori. By brother has a problem with double triggers. His hands and fingers are so long he will shoot both barrels at the same time.

I have two O/U; one a Browning Superposed and the other a Winchester 101. Both are choked in skeet. I shoot the Browning best because it fits me best of the two. It's the RKLT version. The CZ has a RK too and removable chokes so I can adjust the pattern to suit the need. The SxS also has a wider sighting plane and makes it easy to pick up the target. It also has selective trigger and non-auto ejectors which I find more convenient since I pick up my empties.

I currently have a bunch of O/U's but have had three or four SXS's in the past. Looking down the barrels of a SXS is like looking down a sidewalk after shooting an O/U. There is a very nice high grade Ugartechea SXS 410 bore on one of the auction sites that I have my eye on. I think it would make a great dove gun.

No gun points like a SXS. I have acquired seven of them over time. Four of them are older than I am. There's two old Ithaca Flues, a LeFever, and a Parker DH. I picked up an inexpensive Russian IZH-43 about ten or twelve years ago and only a couple of years ago a Stoeger .410. The last gun is a Navy Arms Muzzleloader. Except for the Stoeger, all are 12 ga.

Ten or twelve years ago I ran across a very nice grade III Ithace Flues. 12 Gauge. Only shot it a couple of times. Finally someone wanted it more than I did. Just about doubled my money on that one.

I sometimes shoot a 32" AYA Matador, 12ga for trap doubles and 5-stand. A beast of a gun, but, fun to shoot...

I have two, but they are not in the same league as those listed above. Both are Stoeger Uplanders, a 20 ga and a 410. I don't hunt, these are my around-the-farm working guns.
Late at night if the chickens start raising a ruckus and the wife "suggests" I go check things out I go forth with a 38 in my pocket and the 20 ga with bird shot in one pipe, and buck in the other in case it's something bigger than a possum.

Side by Sides are the best *tongue in cheek of course... but I loves 'em*

Thought the shotgun section could use a kick. Always liked SxS's and have shot quite a few in my day. Will own a nice one sooner than later, just haven't figured out which one.

Two 12ga SxS, and one .410 SxS. Love them all.
I used to have a 16ga SxS but some idiot (about my size) thought it was necessary to sell it - probably to pay rent, or buy food in those days.
I really miss that one. Would like to find another.

What did that lamp post do to you? Nice pic down the barrel(s).
