I have a Savage Mark II FV in .22 call., and it like most is a tack driver.
I have a problem with the bolt forming a burr on the bottom side of the non-blued part. (I was going to attach photos but don't know how). There is a raised, aproximentely 1/8" square with a sharp angle at the rear of this raised portion. It is in the center of the "in the white" metal.
I have sent the complete rifle back to Savage under warranty..... BUT it cost me $21.00 to ship there. Supposedly the situation was fixed. I noticed the same problem of the "burr" coming back after about 200 or more rounds.
Anyone else had this problem with your Savage Mark II series .22 cal. rifle?
Has anyone have an idea what is causing this.... and maybe I will have more info to tell Savage. BTW.... I sent them the good photos too.

I have a MarfIIGL, will have to pull the bilt and take a look the nxt chance I grt.

I have the same rifle as the old man.... I have a couple thousand rounds though her. mine has no burr

I'd have to see the pictures. To post them you must have a photo hosting account like photobucket or picasa with direct linking capability. Then you can use "img" html tags to post the picture by bracketing the http link address of the photo.

Don't think it really is a problem as far as I can see. Mine has a little burr also in the flat just ahead of the bolt handle it is caused by the bolt hitting the stop on the back stroke. Little Greener , you must have one too, unless you pull the bolt back a lot softer than I do. Didn't' know you had a South paw gun too.

oops mine is minus the "L" I'll have to look closer for the burr never noticed it before... I tend to work a bolt rather vigorously too

GOTCHA!!!!!
The burr is on the forward edge of the slot where the bolt hits the shop as it travels rearward, and I work the bolt pretty hard myself. Got to make sure it travels full length.
