I posted a target, and have mentioned several times the old Rem. 581 that I rescued a couple years ago. But failed to post a pic. of it.
So, here is a pic. Frankly, it was so abused by a previous owner that I would not have even considered it except for the shift lever being on the CORRECT side.

Nice looking gun, even though the shift lever is on the wrong side (correct side).... So the stock is a righty

I don't have a before pic. I just got my first digital camera about 8 months ago, and this forum taught me how to use photobucket.
Over the years, I've rebuilt a few but it never occured to me to take pics.
This rifle had a Redfield receiver sight on it (I haven't got it cleaned and re-blued yet) that you could barely see the #s and lines on it because of gunk and rust. At least I got the rust and most of the gunk off though.
I'm kind of a sucker for a sick puppy.

You did a fine job of bringing that one back to life, and it looks like you have a hobby you like. So it is doubly good

You did a great job MH, takes a lot of patience and a lot of time to refinish or even finish. I used to do a lot of woodworking and still do some, T am great at designing and building, but finshing really is a chore for me.

You sure done a good job on bringing that rifle back. It could sit in my safe anytime it would want to. Good luck with it. :)
